Free helpline for tech assistance and advice

Vodafone and social impact organisation We Are Digital are offering a free helpline. Trained advisors can assist with skills such as setting up a phone or tablet, connecting to the internet, using online banking and money-saving tools, or communicating with friends and family via email and messaging apps.

Government should create Digital Inclusion Unit, says British Academy

The British Academy has published a new briefing urging the government to launch a ‘Digital Inclusion Unit’. The new Department of Science, Innovation and Technology should bring together data and expertise from local authorities, government departments, agencies and regulators, and coordinate on policy and best practice, it says.

New learning platform to boost digital skills

Sandwell Council is creating a learning platform for local residents to boost digital skills. The platform will cover digital learning, emerging technologies and life skills. It is created in partnership with digital services and consulting company Infosys.
