Annual ‘State of the Nation’ report on digital inclusion in the UK

The Digital Inclusion All Party Parliamentary Group has launched its third annual report on the state of digital inclusion. This year, the report outlines long-term recommendations for the new government, including: creating a digital and social inclusion fund, and forming a ‘one-stop shop’ support service for consumers, charities, and government agencies.

Department for Science, Innovation and Technology hiring on digital inclusion

The government department is looking for a new digital inclusion engagement lead to shape its engagement strategy. The successful applicant will join a newly created Digital Inclusion and Skills Unit, which will play “a central role in shaping the national digital inclusion action plan and the department's wider skills agenda.” Applications close 6th November.

Greater Manchester launches volunteer programme to boost digital inclusion

The Digital Champion programme will see community volunteers supporting residents, to help improve digital literacy and give them the confidence to use technology safely. The programme will provide training for around 170 champions already volunteering across the ten boroughs. It's a collaboration between Greater Manchester Combined Authority, community organisation Starting Point, and telecoms provider Cellnex.
