Good Things Foundation has released a new report and practical framework designed to help local authorities. They share key findings from their successful Supporting Local Authorities Project, which tested new approaches across key council services like housing and health. They also provide practical tips like conversation prompts.

UK set to transition to internet-based TV

The Department for Culture, Media and Sport has published a green paper and consultation on a UK transition to all internet-based TV by 2034 or 2044. The paper outlines the government's vision and some key steps for the switch. “Broader digital inclusion will be essential," it notes.

Fast connection vital for switch to internet TV

The switch to internet TV provides an opportunity to ensure affordable, reliable internet access for all, according to Good Things Foundation and the Connection Project. The two digital inclusion groups responded to government's proposals on LinkedIn. A 2034 deadline for the switch would “create the urgency” to finish building high quality connectivity across the UK, the Connection Project said.

A new report from the charity Family Fund explores the barriers faced by families raising disabled or seriously ill children. Based on responses from 660 families across the UK, the research highlights the challenges many households face in accessing devices, connectivity, digital skills support, and assistive technology.

Digital Poverty Alliance launches national delivery and advocacy plan

The Digital Poverty Alliance has launched their next National Delivery and Advocacy Plan and their 25th Anniversary Impact Report. The plan is structured around six missions, which include increasing awareness among government, politicians, industry, and the public, and expanding essential digital and critical thinking skills to meet changing needs.
