Local Government Association responds to Digital Inclusion Action Plan
The Local Government Association has published its response to the government’s Action Plan, calling for “a fundamental shift towards recognising and sustainably investing in local authorities as strategic partners”. The group raised five key points in relation to the plan, which was published earlier this year, from integrating inclusion to ensuring cross-departmental collaboration.

The charity will examine the impacts of digital exclusion on the delivery of health services and its effects on health inequalities. It plans to research effects for both patients and clinicians, drawing out variations between groups, such as from rural and urban communities and those of different ages. A written consultation is open until 30th July, with evidence sessions over summer and early autumn. More at the link below.

The DPA is also launching a new initiative to recognise organisations taking meaningful steps to address digital exclusion over the last year. The awards cover five categories: Raising Awareness, Accessible Services, Device Donation, Digital Skills Development, and Partnerships for Impact. techUKMayor of York and North Yorkshire investing £500,000 in digital hubs
A new programme will support the creation of sustainable digital hubs across York and North Yorkshire, as well as training local digital champions to help get communities online. Funding for the project – delivered by North Yorkshire Council on behalf of the regions’ Combined Authority – is from the government’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
