Guidance for good digital practice in social care, and a National Delivery Plan for ending digital poverty in the UK

National Delivery Plan to end digital poverty by 2030

Advocacy organisation Digital Poverty Alliance has published its roadmap for ending digital poverty in the UK. The plan includes actions for all major stakeholders. It calls on the government to create a new digital inclusion strategy, to cut VAT on internet bills to 5%, and to replace it with a digital inclusion levy that would fund proposals.

New guidance on good digital practice in social care

The Department of Health and Social Care, in collaboration with NHS England, has published a framework for good digital working in adult social care. The guidance considers the needs of local authorities and care providers, and outlines common goals for organisations to work towards.

DL100 shortlist announced, celebrating leaders in digital transformation

The shortlist celebrates 100 teams and individuals working to secure digital transformation in the UK. Amongst the 11 categories, 'Digital Skills or Talent' covers initiatives that support digital skills. Members of the public will now vote for winners in each category, to be announced in June.

Circular electronics for social good – new report

Reusing IT equipment can help to bridge the digital divide, according to this new report from Good Things Foundation. The research identifies key barriers and enablers that businesses face when looking at the end-of-life of their IT devices. It considers solutions to issues such as logistical barriers, lack of awareness and data security concerns.
